WITH YOUR SPONSORSHIP
On Friday, October 25, 2013 at approximately 7 p.m., Gunnery SGT David Celej USMC was critically injured in a motorcycle accident in Asheville, NC. David collided broadside with a pickup truck at 45 m.p.h. as the driver made a left-hand turn in front of him. His injuries were so traumatic that he was initially pronounced dead at the scene. David’s parents and siblings, who reside in WNY, traveled 700 miles to be by his side at the trauma hospital. The odds were against him, but David survived.
When David's father, Mike, returned to Buffalo, he recounted David's story to me and how the family was assisted at a healthcare hospitality house close to his son’s hospital. Mike shared in detail how the guest house had been a blessing during their desperate medical journey. His story inspired me to create Grace House and the work started in earnest that very evening in November 2013. The doors opened in November 2017 and ever since, Grace has been a sanctuary for over 600 families on their medical journeys to WNY.
Grace House is a 501(c)3 non-profit healthcare hospitality house that cares for the needs of patients and caregivers so they can focus on what’s important: their loved ones. Guests enjoy safe lodging, nutritious food, and private transportation without worrying about how they’ll pay. That’s Grace’s promise.
Ride with Grace is how we raise support and awareness for families like the Celejs who find themselves away from home seeking critical or specialized medical care right here in WNY. This 100-mile motorcycle cruise will lead riders through the beautiful hills of Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Erie counties. Riders will start at Buffalo Harley-Davidson, with stops at Jamestown Harley-Davidson, and Gowanda Harley-Davidson before enjoying entertainment and a picnic at the Erie County Fairgrounds.
But none of that happens without your support.
Will you support Grace and her families with a sponsorship of Ride with Grace? Below are the opportunities for your consideration – we would be honored to include your organization among those who make Grace possible.
On behalf of Grace and the hundreds of grateful families she serves, thank you.
